Learn
Tarot
Anyone can learn
to use a Tarot deck and read the cards.
With a combination
of some basic tuition and a person's own intuition - the tarot
will reveal itself to a practitioner and help them learn more
about themselves in the process. Learning about the tarot
is a journey of discovery rather than a classroom style educational
process.
Your Tarot Deck
The first thing
that you need is a tarot deck, and the best person to choose
this is yourself. Go and browse among the tarot
card decks available - look at the pictures on the cards,
see which you like the look and feel of. This is a very personal
experience and so it is important to choose a deck that you
feel comfortable with. Allow your intuition to work for you
and let it help you to choose a deck. Ignore advice from sales
people or even other readers - choose the cards that you feel
drawn towards.
Learn About The Tarot
The Tarot deck
is made up of 22 Major Arcana cards, plus 56 Minor Arcana
cards making a total of 76 cards. Each card has several meanings
associated with it, depending upon the context and where it
fits in a particular tarot spread.
Start with a general
understanding about the tarot cards and the way that they
are laid out. This will give you some background information,
but you will learn more by taking one card at a time and focusing
solely on that one tarot card to probe its facets and learn
about its various meanings. Use one card per day, ask for
guidance on that card that day and you will find that you
receive a great deal of information that helps you to understand
that card at a deeper level.
When you feel comfortable
enough with your own tarot deck, then you are ready to try
some simple tarot spreads
and learn more about how the various tarot meanings combine
when given a specific context.
It is also a good
idea to have a tarot reading done by an experienced reader
and learn from their process. It is not always easy to be
totally objective when doing a reading for yourself and so
practicing affirmations on yourself is easier to start your
own learning process. When you feel confident enough, practicing
on friends and family can take you to the next level. However,
be very mindful about what you tell other people as you start
to read for others. Words once said will stick, so unless
you are sure about what you are reading, stay away from very
emotional topics.
